Professor Marina Jirotka took part in a discussion with Capgemini Research institute’s for their journal “Conversations for Tomorrow. The article is available to view on the web, and is targeted at Capgemini’s global organisations in all sectors.
Professor Jirotka discusses the importance of innovating responsibly and establishing trust in autonomous systems and AI in a connected world. She comments that all members of society have a responsibility to develop responsible approaches to managing and evaluating technology that not only support individual autonomy but all individual wellbeing. For organisations the consequences of a misstep can be severe as they run the risk of losing consumer and public trust .
“Not all the automated tools that organizations are considering for integration into their systems have been fully tested for ethical risk and lack of bias.”
As the conversation continues, Professor Jirotka discusses a clear way forward for organisations, asking that they build responsibility into their autonomous systems.
